Use a Little Common Sense

This past week a major disaster was averted at the Deerfield Transfer Station when a fire broke out in the main trash container. Although it is unclear exactly what caused the fire, there have been issues in the past which provide some clues. According to Lenny Mandigo, transfer station director, there have been incidents where people have propped their cigarettes on the rail surrounding the container and the cigarettes have fallen in while lit. The May 7 session of the New Hampshire House dealt with some Senate bills which had previously passed both houses, but which then went to the Committee on Finance before returning again to the whole House of Representatives. The bills usually had amendments which saw major discussion. The amendments will be considered within the discussion below. Health Insurance Costs Outpace Income

A new analysis of government data shows that Americans who get health insurance for their families through their jobs have seen their premiums increase ten times faster than their income in recent years. [more]

Forum Volunteers, Christina Nelson, Rebecca Rule and Deb Boisvert are piloting a weekly news program on public access television. The show will be first shown on the channels that serve Deerfield and Northwood, with hopes to add Nottingham and Candia soon. [more]
RecyclaBulls Help Shape Habits Early

The RecyclaBulls, an acting group from the Winnipesaukee Players recently presented a play on recycling to first through fourth graders at the Moore school in Candia. [more]
