Spencer Tate – Planning Board
My name is Spencer Tate, and I’m a
candidate for a three-year term on the Deerfield Planning Board. My
wife and I built our home in Deerfield and have lived here since
2016. We chose to settle and raise a family here because of the
town’s rural character, sense of community, access to outdoor
recreation, and its balanced approach to development. In my spare
time, I enjoy carpentry, hiking, and gardening.
Professionally, I’m a land use and
environmental consultant and have experienced firsthand the
challenges that municipalities deal with when facing development
pressure. My knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations would
be well-suited for the Planning Board. Due to my professional
background and experience, I can provide certain insights to the
board that may not be offered by other candidates, including
significant experience with commercial and residential site plan
development and review.
As a Planning Board member, my goals
would include the following:
Adhere to and update the Master
Plan, in accordance with statutory requirements
Respect individual landowner
Value the natural, cultural, and
historical resources of Deerfield
Encourage growth and development
of small business within the existing zoning regulations
Review subdivision and site plans
with a goal of minimizing impacts to wetlands, the Lamprey River
watershed, and drinking water resources
